Who we are

HearPin is developed and operated by TwacQAQ ("we", "us"). This policy covers HearPin 1.0 for iPhone and Apple Watch, this website, and support communications. Contact us at twacQAQ@163.com for privacy questions.

What the app processes

HearPin does not require an account and does not include advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not receive your recordings, transcripts, or search history through normal app use.

  • Audio and clip information: your watch records audio after you start recording. Clips include information such as recording times, duration, time zone, file identifiers, and sync status.
  • Transcripts and search: your iPhone creates transcripts with bundled speech models and stores them with your daily Traces. Search indexes, recent searches, and settings remain in local app storage.
  • Local diagnostics: the app may keep operational logs, such as recording or sync status, errors, and device battery information, on your devices. HearPin does not automatically send these logs to us.

These records support recording, playback, synchronization, transcription, search, and troubleshooting. HearPin does not upload recordings or transcripts to us or to model providers for processing or model training.

Syncing and system backups

Audio moves from your Apple Watch to its paired iPhone through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. Transcription runs on the iPhone using models included in the app. HearPin has no cloud transcription service and does not implement iCloud synchronization.

System backups are separate. Depending on your device settings, Apple's iCloud Backup or computer backups may include app data. These backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by HearPin. We cannot access them. You can manage them in your device or backup settings. See what iCloud backs up.

Permissions you control

  • Microphone on Apple Watch: needed to record audio. You can stop recording at any time and revoke microphone access in the watch’s system settings.
  • Notifications on iPhone: requested during setup for app notifications. You can decline or change this permission in iPhone Settings.

HearPin 1.0 does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, or HealthKit data. Recordings may include other people; tell them before recording and obtain any consent required by applicable law.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your iPhone keeps recordings and transcripts until you delete the relevant Trace or delete the app. To delete a day, open its Trace, open the More menu, and choose Delete This Day. This removes that day’s audio and transcripts from the iPhone. Recent searches can be cleared separately from the search screen.

After the iPhone confirms receipt of a clip, HearPin removes the watch’s copy. Clips that have not been confirmed remain on the watch for later transfer. Deleting a Trace on the phone does not delete a still-pending watch clip or an existing system backup.

To remove all local app data, delete HearPin from both devices using the system’s app-deletion controls. Offloading an app is different from deleting it and may retain data. Manage existing backups separately. We have no server copy from which to recover deleted recordings or transcripts.

When you contact support

If you email twacQAQ@163.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, such as a problem description, device details, screenshots, or attachments. We use this information to respond to your request, investigate the issue, and handle related privacy or security matters.

Support email is handled through our email provider, NetEase (163 Mail), and your chosen email service. Please send only what is needed; remove private content from screenshots and avoid sending recordings or transcripts unless needed and you choose to share them.

We keep support correspondence only as long as necessary to handle the request, related follow-up, or legal obligations. You may request access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us.

When you visit this website

To deliver and protect these pages, our website service provider may process technical request information such as your IP address, browser or system information, requested address, and traffic-routing information. This is separate from audio and transcripts stored in the app.

We do not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts, contact forms, or nonessential cookies to these pages. Following an email link opens your email app; nothing is sent until you choose to send it.

Service providers and your choices

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Website and email providers process information needed to deliver those services. They may process it in countries other than where you live. Information may also be disclosed where legally required. Apple’s App Store, system backups, and any diagnostics you choose to share with Apple are governed by Apple’s policies and your settings.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise rights concerning information we hold. We cannot access, retrieve, or remotely erase content stored only on your devices.

Children and other people’s information

HearPin does not require an account and does not actively ask children to provide personal information. Children should use the app with a parent or guardian’s guidance and obtain their consent where required by applicable law.

Recordings and transcripts may contain other people’s voices, names, or other personal information, including children’s information. Before recording, give appropriate notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law, including a parent or guardian’s consent where required for children. Respect other people’s privacy and reasonable requests to stop recording or delete their information. Do not share their information without authorization. Local processing does not remove these responsibilities.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact twacQAQ@163.com. We will review the request and delete information that should not be retained, unless retention is required by law. We cannot access or remotely delete recordings stored only on a user’s devices; deletion of those recordings must be handled on the devices where they are stored.

Changes and contact

We will update this page and its last updated date when our practices change. Material changes will also be communicated through an appropriate app or website notice. A future feature that changes data handling will be described before that handling begins.
